Women’s Wellbeing

What we do

Our comprehensive work strategy

Improving health outcomes for women and girls who experience disadvantage is a complex and multifaceted issue. Disadvantaged women and girls face a range of challenges that impact their health and wellbeing, including poverty, discrimination, limited access to education, healthcare and other resources, social isolation, and gender-based violence.

Here are some ways we work to improve health outcomes for women and girls of disadvantage:

Address the social determinants of health

It is essential to understand the social factors that determine health outcomes for women and girls who face disadvantages. We aim to capture the real-life experiences of women and work with crucial partners to eliminate obstacles that hinder women from receiving the necessary support at the appropriate time.

Focus on prevention

Preventive healthcare is key to improving health outcomes for women and girls of disadvantage. We deliver accessible programs promoting women's health awareness, education, and well-being.

Address gender-based violence

Gender-based violence is a major issue that women and girls from disadvantaged backgrounds face. To tackle this problem, we have developed education, prevention, and intervention programs that aim to improve the health outcomes of women and girls and reduce the risk of violence. Additionally, we have a separate program designed specifically for men.

Empower women and girls

Empowering women and girls enables them to make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing, and increases their chances of accessing the resources necessary for leading fulfilling lives. Our leadership programmes aim to support women by developing their assertiveness and confidence, allowing them to access wider opportunities and embrace new talents

Increase access to healthcare and reliable information on women’s health

Having good quality and reliable health literacy is crucial in preventing and managing health issues. Unfortunately, individuals with lower health literacy are often more susceptible to experiencing poorer health outcomes. To address these barriers, we collaborate with the NHS and other health programs to extend our reach to the most vulnerable women. We strive to ensure that women in various community contexts have access to women's health programs. Our focus is on supporting women with reproductive health, menopause transition, pregnancy, and diabetes intervention.

Address mental, emotional, physical and financial wellbeing

Disadvantaged women and girls often struggle with poor mental health, and the problem is exacerbated for those facing financial hardship. Addressing issues such as depression and anxiety is crucial for promoting better health outcomes and enabling women and girls to live more fulfilling lives. To this end, we offer a comprehensive wellbeing activities programme that covers cycling, yoga, arts and crafts, and financial resilience. Our program is designed to boost women's confidence and self-esteem and help them feel good about themselves.
